Kandy survives Havelock scare as battle for first place heats up

Kandy Sports Club narrowly managed to get over the line against Havelocks Sports Club as the Pinks let slip away a possible upset in Nittawela.

This meant CR continued to cut the lead and kick at the heels of Kandy, as the gap at the top was reduced to just one point.

Air Force host Army at Rathmalana on the 12th of January

Army will look to continue their push for a top-4 finish as they take on Air Force, currently sitting in 7th.

A top 4 finish for the Air Force seems all but over, and now their sights will be set on putting up a fight for the Plate as the second round begins in a couple of weeks.

Army needs to play their hearts out as they looked promising through the campaign, only to fall short repeatedly in disappointing fashion.

This game kicks off week 6 of the Club Rugby league as an exciting weekend of rugby is in store

Navy host Kandy at Welisara on the 13th of January

The Navy has been disappointing this season. However, this was expected as they lost many players before the league.

Kandy, on the other hand, does not look unbeatable like in previous seasons, but only time will tell if they are invincible or not!

The visitors will aim to make it 6-out-of-6 as they head down to Welisara, and I don’t see Navy causing the visitors any trouble.

CR & FC hosts Havelocks at Longdon Place on the 13th of January

The unbeaten Reds will no doubt aim to keep their unblemished record intact, while Havelocks will aim to put a dent in the CR title challenge.

The home team come in as favourites, but a wounded Havelocks outfit would no doubt be aiming to bounce back, getting their campaign back on track.

CR & FC will surely not settle for anything less than a victory as they continue to push Kandy at the helm.

Our featured fixture will be the game of the week. The action will be brought to you on DTV Channel No. 126 and ThePapare.com

CH & FC play host to Police at Racecourse on the 14th of January

Plenty is at stake at Racecourse as 4th plays 5th on the table, making it an exciting watch.

CH & FC cannot afford anymore slip-ups, but the Police will know this is their opportunity to pounce. A win for CH means 4th place is pretty much sealed. However, a defeat of any sort will open up the table, giving the Police a chance to sneak into the Cup segment.

For the visitor, it’s a simple equation!

Nothing but a win would do as they aim to displace CH and sneak through the backdoor into the all-important top 4.

CH are tipped to take this game away, but it’s pretty straightforward for the Police and they know what they need to do if they are to secure a birth with the big boys of the League.

The action will be brought to you on DTV Channel No. 126 and ThePapare.com
