Apart from the thrilling action and entertainment, the match will also act as a selection trial for the Asia U19 Rugby Championship which will be held in December 2018.
Senior campaigner from Kandy who represented the U19 Sri Lanka team at the ASIAD 2017 Shabeer Mohommed will most likely lead the Reds this year as he stands as the only experienced player who was a part of the Junior National team last year from a Kandy school. However, a few U18 National Sevens Players like Vishwa Ranaraja and Naveen Rajaratnam are included in the Kandy Reds squad and will definitely look forward to making it into the XV’s National team as well.
