Striker Bodrie Dimitri grabs a hat-trick and helps Colombo FC destroy Kalutara Park S.C by 6 goals to 1.

Kalutara Park equalized the game a few minutes after the opponent’s first goal and continued to keep up the pace till the short whistle. During the second half Colombo FC coach M.N.M.Roomy decided to make a few substitutions which made a change in the game that went on to make a change in the score board as well.(what are the changes ?) Skipper Raumi Mohideen and midfielder Tuan Rizni who is back after an injury and missed the last season    helped the foreign strikers Bodrie Dimitri and A.C. Samson to score goals.

A huge disadvantage both the teams faced at today’s match was the goalkeepers. Imran Nazeer of Colombo F.C and Sujan Perera from Kalutara Park have been included in the Sri Lankan national squad who are currently out of the country. for ( I thought they are playing a friendly ?special training purposes. Not having the main player of the team Kalutara Park had to face a huge loss meanwhile Colombo F.C managed to make a substitute and had made the defense line stronger.

Colombo F.C ruined the nail biting moment (how did they ruin it not clear)and made their way to score the first goal of the match when right winger (which team ?)Damayantha Kumara crossed a ball to the near post which was headed backwards by A.C.Samson. The headed ball was shot directly to the nets while the ball was in air by Bodrie Dimitri in the 23rd minute. The equalizer for the game was made by midfielder Wasantha de Silva. Kalutara Park striker Oladele Mondoy made the pass to his attacking partner Wasantha who passed through the line and faced one on one against the goalkeeper. He chose to kick the ball to the right side of the post which was successful.

Few minutes after the equalizer, the Kalutara Park rushed in to the opponents defensive area and tried to score another goal. Luckily Colombo F.C goalkeeper L.Haslan had a good focus on the ball even though the defense line was under pressure. Oladele Mondoy overcame 3 players by just dribbling the ball. Colombo F.C defender Inthikab tackled opponent Oladele to stop him coming in to the penalty box. A free kick was awarded to the Kalutara Park S.C. One of the senior players Madhushan Munindradasa tried to shoot the free kick towards the nets but failed and the shot was out of target. An easy chance of scoring the goal was missed.

First half of the game was a draw as both teams had 1 goal each.

Freshman and the game changer Ahamed Shazny  of Colombo FC stepped onto the field in the second half. As soon as he got in to the game his style of game changed. He had the help of his team mates and his support to the Nigerian strikers was amazing.  Shazny created more space to Samson to be free and to make more movements towards the goal post. Shazny made a flat pass to Samson. Standing opposite the goal post Samson had no choice of passing the ball but to take a shot. The shot turned out to be the second goal for Colombo F.C in the 50th minute.

One minute after the second goal Samson made way to score the third goal as well. Tuan Rizni’s lob-pass to the striker who ran passing the Kalutara Park defenders dribbling the ball from side to side ended up standing in front of the goalkeeper. A slow tap to the right side reached the nets as Colombo F.C was leading 3 goals to 1.

Left defender Ziya Osman (u hv to tell the team name all time reader is losing the plot)made a pass to Shazny who misplaced the ball by kicking the ball a bit harder towards the wrong direction and ran after the ball. A 50-50 situation occurred at that point where the goalkeeper also had come to collect the ball. But the goal-keeper’s position was dangerous and it injured Shazny. Referee had to give away the penalty to the boys in yellow. Bodrie Dimitri scored the penalty in the 57th minute for Colombo FC.

A tricky movement by leaving the ball to another striker to score the goal was perfectly performed by the Colombo F.C strikers.  Shazny faked a run as if he was going to collect a pass given from Samson and let the ball go without touching. Opponent defenders got caught to the trick and then moved towards the person who collected the ball. Dimitri received the ball and had no second thoughts but to take a shot towards the goal post. Dimitri scored his hatrick goal in the 62nd minute.

Kalutara Park missed few free kicks which were completely off target.  Oladele Mondoy was an excellent dribbler but none of his finishings were perfect. Most of the time he was single handed as his team mate who played in the attacking line along with him was not up to the required standard.  The wingers were too slow to collect his lob passes and through passes. Since no fight was given by the Kalutara team they had given up the game. Ahamed Shazny scored the final goal for Colmbo FC in the 91st minute by passing two defenders in between and dribbling the ball. Even before the goalkeeper came towards Shazny he kicked the ball to the right side of the goal post.

Colombo F.C won the game by 6 goals to 1 beating Kalutara Park S.C. The victorious Colombo F.C boys will look to creating more havoc this season.
