Two matches of the Singer Schools Under 19 Division I Cricket Tournament 2018/19 were conducted today around the island. Left arm seamer Kalana Perera and left arm leg spinner Dellon Peiris starred with the ball for S. Thomas’ College as they registered first innings victory over Dharmaraja College.

Thomas’ College managed to record first innings points against Dharmaraja College in their Group C fixture which was worked off today at Kandy. Dharmaraja College resumed day two on 72 runs for 8 wickets and was bowled out for 131 runs in 49 overs. Right handed batsman Dulaj Bandara was the major contributor with the bat for the Rajans as he stroked a classy 62 runs.

After been asked to follow on Dharmaraja batsmen showed much better batting display in the second innings scoring 230 runs all-out. Dulaj Bandara who stroked a half-ton in the first innings, scored another half-ton in the second innings. In addition, Mithula Gayashan chipped in with a valuable 73 runs for the Kandy boys.

Dellon Peiris was the pick of the bowlers for the Thomians in the second innings as he took 4 wickets for 58 runs. Chasing a target of 106 runs to win, S. Thomas’ College got off to a flying start but could not chase down the target as umpires called stumps on day two.
