Dilmi and Senura crowned with the Junior National title

Dilmi  Kolambage of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda and Senura Silva of Ananda College, Colombo were crowned champions at the 72nd ‘Junior National Table Tennis Championships’ conducted by the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army which was held from the 08th March to  09th March 2019.

Junior National Table Tennis Championship was played off at the Indoor Stadium of the Panagoda Army camp, with over 450 schools players. The tournament was work out from the girls and boys under 9, 11, 13.15,17 and under 19 age group categories (Singles, Doubles, Mix)

The women’s top category which was the u19’s was won by Dilmi Kolambage of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda. She won in straight sets defeating her schoolmate Sanduni Prabuddhika of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda at the final, with the scores reading (11/07, 11/07, 11/09).Senura Silva of Ananda College, Colombo met Chandupa Alahakoon of Kingswood College, Kandy in the Men’s final battle and came through in a sensational 5-setter. The young lad of Maradana finished off the match with scores reading (11/01, 11/07, 08/11, 12/14, 11/07)

Jithara Warnakulasuriya of Ladies’ College, Colombo was awarded the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament in the girls category while Senura Silva of Ananda College, Colombo was awarded the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament in boys category.

Jithara Warnakulasuriya of Ladies’ College, Colombo beat Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College, Kandy (11/09, 11/03, 11/08)

Chanul Dulsen of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda beat Senura Silva of Ananda College, Colombo (11/08, 05/11, 11/03, 09/11, 05/11)

Helitha Hendawitharana of Royal College, Colombo and Nadithi Rehansa of Prajapathi Gothami BMV beat Senura Silva of Ananda College, Colombo and Jithara Warnakulasuriya of Ladies’ College, Colombo (02/11, 11/09, 11/06, 11/09)
