Jordan’s national football team made history by reaching the final of the AFC Asian Cup 2024 after defeating South Korea, marking their first-ever appearance in the final of the tournament.

Jordan met South Korea in the 1st semi final of the AFC Asian Cup 2024 at AL – Rayyan Stadium. South Korea came into the fixture as favourites with a star studded line-up which led by the English Premier League Star Son Heung Min.

The 1st half ended goalless where the Arabs dominated the entire half having 12 attempts on goal.

Jordan’s Yazan Al-Naimat broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when the striker netted the opening goal.Not too long after the opening strike, Jordan’s no. 10 Musa Al-Taamari doubled the advantage for the Middle Eastern nation by scoring a goal worthy of contender for goal of the tournament.

The South Koreans having made comebacks in a couple of occasions this tournament failed to score late against the resilient Jordan defence. The best opportunity of the game for the Koreans came in the 32nd minute of the game when the PSG star Lee Kang-in hit the post with an overhead kick.

Jordan is the only team remaining in the competition to never win the tournament. They will meet either Defending champions Qatar or Iran in the finals on Saturday at the Lusail stadium.
