St. Joseph’s College, Colombo demolished Bandaranayake College, Gampaha by 6 wickets in their Singer Cup group D game which concluded today at Darley road.
Second days play resumed on 33 for two wickets, the Josephians went on to make 250 in just 46 overs. Stylish left hander Nipun Samarasinghe made a classy 79 off 77 balls and right-hander Dineth Madurawela stroked a quick fire 51 as Josephian skipper Harin Cooray declared the innings. Arosha Madushan picked up 2 wickets for the visitors.
The visitors started their second innings with 77 runs behind and were knocked out for 158 runs in 52.4 overs .Vijitha Madanayake and Janidu jayawardane chipped in with 40s for the visitors while skipper Harin Cooray bagged 3 for 33.
Chasing a victory target of 82 in 13 overs, the hosts crossed the line with four wickets down in 9.4 overs. Vice-captain Shewon Fonseka, opened the batting and made an unbeaten 31-ball 57 with 2 sixes and 5 fours to guide the Josephians home.

Former Captain and Sri Lanka U19 cap, Charana Nanayakkara’s terrific century helped Thurstan College go pass 200 in their Singer-Cup traditional game against D.S Senanayake at Thurstan grounds.
The visitors won the toss and invited the hosts, Thurstan to have the first use of the surface. The hard-hitting all-rounder Nanayakkara made 108 while Dilshan Laheer captured 3 for 47 for the visitors as Thurstan declared on 206 for 8. In reply D.S Senanayake was 4 for none at close of play.

Ananda College, Colombo took major honours on day one against Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya in their Singer-Cup traditional game at Dharmapala grounds.
After opting to bat first, the hosts were bundled out for a paltry 98 runs in 59 overs. Amila Dayanka top scored with 21 while left-arm spinner Dileepa Jayalath destroyed the hosts with a 5 wicket haul.
In reply, the lads from Ananda Mawatha started their innings with all guns blazing as left-handed opening batsman Sahan Suraweera scored a magnificent century to take control of the proceedings, his opening partner Kavindu Gimhana stroked 63 to put up a century opening stand as they made 190 for 3 in just 22 overs.

Gurukula batsman Theshan Malinda’s unbeaten century was the highlight on the first day in their Singer cup group C match against Moratu Vidyalaya in Moratuwa.
The hosts were sent into bat by the visitors and were rattled for just 78 runs in 22.4 overs. Isuru Udayanga top scored with 25, while Malindu Viduranga bagged four wickets.
In reply, the visitors declared their innings on 241 for 7 wickets. Theshan Malinda reached three figures and Lasindu Arosha chipped in with well-compiled 62.

Right-arm off spinner Sanka Poora captured 5 for 15 as Zahira College were bundled out for a below-par 117 of 48.2 overs. Mohommed Shamaz and Mohommad Nagaz made useful 30s for the hosts, while Pasindu Madawa also put his name on the bowling card with a three-wicket haul.
