Joes push hard but unable to break Thomian defense

St. Josephs finished their interschool cricket match against S. Thomas’ College on a high today at Darley road a short while ago. 

 

The Thomians continuing from their overnight score of 68 for 6 wickets managed to score 115 runs in 38.2 over’s mainly due to their skipper’s knock of 59. Skipper Madushan Ravichandrakumar being unbeaten on 21* on day one continued his good work to score a match saving half ton. 

For the Josephian skipper Sachin Hewawasam and Rajindu Rodrigo shared the wickets wit the former capturing 2 wickets and Rodrigo ending with 3 wickets. The Josephians taking an aggressive approach in their 2nd innings managed to score 149 runs for 4. It was a power packed innings from opener Dylan Fernandopulle which ensured that the home team reached a good score. For the Thomians first innings hero, Ravindu Thilakaratna managed to capture 2 wickets for 32 runs. 

The Thomians in their second innings batting on weary wicket ended day two on 117 for 5 in 41 over’s. Deputy skipper Javed Bonso top scored for the Thomians with 38 while Thilaksha Sumanasiri scored 26. For the home team off spinner Moditha Weerasinghe and Yashan Samarasinghe captured 2 wickets apiece.
