St. Josephs College hosted S. Thomas’ College today at Darley road and the home team managed to end on a high after day one.
The Josephians winning the toss on home conditions decided to bat first and posted a challenging 189 runs.
Almost all the batsmen got starts but could not convert it in to big scores with the highest score coming from the bat of Dylan Fernandopulle who scored 29 runs. Left arm Chinaman Ravindu Thilakaratne stole the show with the ball claiming 6 wickets for 37 runs for the Thomians. The 16 year old spinner was on song looping the ball well on the Darley road wicket.
The Thomians in their first innings were struggling to find the middle of the bat ending day one on 68 for 6 wickets.
Rajindu Rodrigo and Skipper Sachin Hewawasam claimed 2 wickets each to take the advantage going in to day 2.
