JKH ‘B’, MAS Silueta & Unilever record resounding wins

Three matches of the MCA Fair & Lovely MEN ‘B’ division tournament were worked off today(25) with John Keells Holdings ‘B’, MAS Silueta and Unilever Sri Lanka recording comfortable wins.

DHT Cement vs John Keells Holdings ‘B’

DHT Cement were humbled at the hands of JKH ‘B’ in their match worked off at the MCA grounds in Colombo. Nuwan Thushara(2/07) and Akthab Cader(3/18) bowled hostile spells once again to reduce DHT to 11/5 before left arm orthodox spinner Sasindu Perera cleaned up the tail and finished with top figures of 4/14 as DHT were bundled out for 74 runs inside 25 overs.

JKH lost a wicket early on in the run chase but Manoj Sarathchandra stroked a classy unbeaten 40* as they reached the target in the 10th over to complete the match before lunch.

Mobitel vs MAS Silueta

Mobitel’s struggles continued as they lost their third match out of four league games to the much fancied MAS Silueta at the FTZ grounds in Katunayake.

None of the Mobitel batsmen got going after they were sent into bat as they were restricted to 156 with right arm seamer Charana Nanayakkara doing the bulk of the damage picking up three wickets.

Irosh Samarasuriya stroked a classy half century in the run chase while Denuwan Rajakaruna who struck a century a few days back, guided the latter part of the run chase with a composed unbeaten 31* as MAS Silueta recorded a five wicket win to continue their unbeaten run.

Unilever Sri Lanka vs Singer Sri Lanka

Unilever Sri Lanka recorded their first win of the tournament to keep their semi-final hopes alive as they beat Singer Sri Lanka by 75 runs on the Duckworth and Lewis method at the Surrey Village grounds in Maggona.

Unilever put up 178/7 in their 43 overs in a rain affected game with Madusha Rajarathna top scoring with 35. Harishnath Rajendran also made a valuable 32* lower down the order to proved much needed impetus to the innings.

Rajendran’s game only got better as he starred with ball capturing three wickets as Singer Sri Lanka were restricted to 103/9 to hand a much deserved win for Unilever SL.
