Vikings SC demolished Jayawadanagma SC 6-0 in the 2nd round of the FA Cup where Jayawadanagama fielded 8 players, at Madinnagoda Grounds.
Play was delayed beyond the kickoff time in order for Jayawadanagama SC to find the mandatory seven players to play the match.
Vikings SC kicked off proceedings in what was a one sided match as they started off with an own goal by Mohommad Shafraz. The strike came from the boot of Hansana Chamathkara which was deflected in by Shafraz leaving no chance to the goalkeeper to save the ball.
Second goal came a few minutes after through Keshara Maushanka. Asitha Premashantha sent the ball across the goal which found Keshara for an easy tap-in.
The third goal was a carbon copy of the second one, Asitha crossing the ball and this time it was Chaminda Dharmapriya who found the back of the net against the clueless Jayawadanagama SC eight.
Vikings got their 4th goal in the 34th minute. Asitha putting in the cross towards the far corner where Dharmapriya was, then Chaminda cut back in chipped the ball to Madushanka who fired the ball into the goal.
Few minutes before the half time whistle, Premashantha chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to round up the first half with 5 goals.
Second half did not go for long as Jayawadanagama SC lost two players and was reduced to 6 players. One player was sent off by the referee for illegally substituting without informing the referee.
Few moments later Vikings scored their 6th goal, Sanika Chathuranga with the cross which found Eranga Perera who headed the ball to the back of the net.
The visitors lost another player due to injury and they were reduced to 6 players.
The referee rightfully called off play due to not having the mandatory 7 players on the field.
It was a frustrating end after all with people coming in numbers to watch a proper football match, but ending up watching a one sided encounter with one team having only 8 players in the team in one the two major tournaments in the country.
