Sri Lanka A beat the England Lions by 4 wickets to take an inaccessible 3-0 lead in the five match unofficial ODI series
The win was set-up by the Sri Lankan spinners led by all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya who bowled brilliantly to capture five wickets. He bowled his quota of ten overs conceding just 35 runs while picking up five scalps, as he gave a reminder to the selectors about his all-round capabilities.
He also got good support from left arm tweaker Amila Aponso and right arm leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay who picked up two wickets apiece.
Daniel Bell Drummond looked fluent while making a half century for the visitors but none of the other batsmen managed to cope with the high quality spin bowling.
Just when you thought Jayasuriya had a brilliant game, it only got better as he smashed 8 fours and 3 sixes in a whirlwind knock of 83.
While Jayasuriya gave the ideal start for the hosts, it was Kithuruwan Vithanage who completed the finishing touches as he anchored the latter part of the chase with an unbeaten 44* off 55 balls.
Liam Livingstone and Ollie Rayner kept the hosts in check with a couple of wickets each, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Lankans going up 3-0 in the series.
