A few regular faces in the England set-up are missing from the 13-man squad: Ben Stokes, Player-of-the-Match in the World Cup final, has been rested alongside Jos Buttler while Mark Wood is missing due to a side strain which will see him out of action for four to six weeks.

Lewis Gregory is another to receive a maiden Test call-up having enjoyed an impressive season in the County Championship for Somerset; the bowling all-rounder has taken 44 wickets at an average of 13.88 and returned 363 runs with the bat at an average of 30.25.

Olly Stone – yet to make his Test debut – has also been included having made a full recovery from a stress fracture that saw him prematurely return home from England’s tour of West Indies earlier this year.
