After a splendid weekend of thrilling rugby with much credit to Referee Lawrence Wilkinson, Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) has made arrangements for another overseas Referee to officiate in the upcoming week’s Dialog Rugby League encounters.
Japan National Referee Panel and Asia Panel ‘A’ Referee, Tasuku Kawahara will be in town this weekend to blow in the main event this Saturday evening, when Havelock SC host Kandy SC at Havelock Park.
With the aim of maintaining high standards, better game management and especially fan satisfaction, the decision of choosing referee Kawahara seems to be spot on by the SLR. With Kandy’s 1st place is under threat by Havies who trail by just 1 point – the pressure is real.
Kawahara will also render his services at Welisara, when Police take on Navy in an important clash for the 6th position, ahead of the ‘Super Round’.
However, it will be a tough task for referee Kawahara since this will be his first time officiating in a league match in the country.
