The second edition of the resurrected All Island schools relay championship, will be held in Jaffna, capital of the Northern peninsula from the 8th to the 10th of September at the Duriyappah Stadium.
Organized by the Sri Lanka School’s Athletic Association, under the guidance of the Ministry of education, this year’s relay carnival will be sponsored by the Nestle Lanka Ltd, through their iconic brand ‘Milo’ which has been in the forefront of empowering school competitions in the Island.
Last year’s competition which was held in Bogambara was a resounding success with keen interest and fierce competition amongst the school’s teams. St Benedicts college walked away with the overall Boy’s Championship while Walal. A. Rathnayake College won the overall Girls Championship.

This year’s competition will see the participation of around 5000 athletes at the Championship which is set to be an event of huge magnitude in Jaffna since the National Sports Festival was also held at the same venue. Competition will be categorized into 5 age groups. 4X100m, 4X200m, 4X400m & 4X800m events will be worked out amongst four age groups – Under 14, Under 16 & Under 18 & Under 20 while the Under 12 athletes are set to compete in the 4X50m relays.
This year the organizers have added a special championship competition to the event where the mixed schools that participate will have a competition for the overall points accumulated at the event apart from the Boys & Girls Age Group Championships.
