Jaffna Team emerged champions of the Northern Province U23 Women’s District Tournament 2023.

Jaffna, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya recorded victories in the seven games of U23 Women’s District Tournament worked off on 12th, 13th and 14th May.

Jaffna registered a convincing 10-wicket win over Mannar in their last Group stage game. With this win, Jaffna managed to clinch the Northern Province championship of the tournament. Unbeaten Jaffna registered 3 wins of 4 games while one game was washed out due to rain.

The encounter between Kandy and Batticaloa made the headlines as the match produced a result in just 10.3 overs. Kandy Team’s terrific bowling effort led by Isiri Meegammana restricted Batticaloa Team to just 7 runs in 8.2 overs which the victorious Kandy Team chased down in 2.1 overs.
