ITF Junior Circuit Tournaments underway

The ITF Junior Circuit Tennis Tournaments are currently underway at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo.

This is the first international fixture on the Sri Lanka Tennis Calendar for the year 2023, with  those looking to up their ITF Rankings coming down to Sri Lanka for the 2 weeks of competition ahead.

Approximately 90 entries have been recorded from overseas participants, with the total count of entries hitting the 120 mark. SLTA expects players from Kazhakstan, United Kingdom, Malaysia, India, New Zealand, China, France, Spain and many more European nations to feature in the event.

The Girls’ and Boys’ draws will be a Draw 32 for the 2 weeks, with Singles and Doubles events lined up. The Doubles draws will consist of 16 contenders.

The Tournament Director is experienced Coach Dinith Pathiraja, who has donned the role of Tournament Referee in many Davis Cup ties held in Sri Lanka over the past few years. The official tournament ball is the Dunlop ATP.

Week 1 of the ITF Circuit started on the 28th of January with Qualifiers and 30th January marks the main draw matches. Week 1 will conclude on the 5th of February.
