Entrust group one of the leading financial sectors in the island has made history by sponsoring the last year’s triple champions Isipathana College. The big cheque was handed over today by Mrs. Romesha Senerath GED/GCOO to the College team at the media briefing held at the Kingsbury Hotel.
The very green partnership with both the college and sponsor trusting green presented their credentials to the media with much decorum. It is the largest sponsorship Isipathana College has received through the history of their rugby.
Mrs. Senerath Group Executive Director/Group Chief Operations Officer stated that “It is the first time that Entrust is sponsoring a school team and it’s a great privilege to be part of this champion school which has created many rugby legends in the past.” She further stated that Entrust has been sponsoring Sri Lanka Police Rugby team, Ragama Cricket Club, Nuwara Eliya Racing and some Golf events” in this beautiful paradise.
Isipathana is undoubtedly one of the greatest rugby playing schools. Mr. Hasan Sinhawansa senior vice president of Isipathana OBA addressed the gathering “Isipathana has done a great amount of service for the nation’s rugby creating over 70 national players, 8 national captains, 2 World Rugby Referees and 3 national coaches. We thank Entrust for coming on board to continue our winning records” he reiterated.
Mr. Rajeev Rodrigo Chairman Rugby Committee of Isipathana College also addressed the media thanking the sponsors and Isipathana’s last year’s Triple Crown performance. It was the sixth time in history that the Green machine became unbeaten Triple Champions and is the highest by any rugby playing school in the country.
He further added about the current skipper Omalka ‘The Beast’ Gunarathne and his contribution to the College with the vice captain Kushan Indunil and the team but not forgetting to thank the Coach Nilfer Ibrahim for his service and concluded with a big thank you for the Sponsor Entrust Group.
