This was asked by Dr. Asanga WIjayaratne from the St. Joseph’s cricket team during their Big Match Preparation Psychology Session. Almost all the 1st Eleven players said ‘NO’, ‘winning is not everything’.
The good old doctor said ‘if winning is not everything for you, why do you even bother to play for the Big Match – try playing some non competitive girly sport’
Is winning everything??? NO said Dr. A – It is the ONLY thing!
When you play a competitive, high intensity game, ALWAYS focus on winning big. Not by a thin margin. Alteast you would end up winning with a thin margin or in a worst case scenario – you may have a draw. Fight the good fight. That should be your sole focus. If you focus on winning by 1 run or 01 goal, you’ve already lost the game.
Always remember – Your winning mentality has to be very strong and powerful, MUCH MORE than your physical fitness.
& Tamil New Year Celebrations and our Jana Kreeda unique or special? Never thought on these lines have you? Isn’t it time as a sportsman or a fitness freak that you started focusing on this?
Mahatma Gandhi once said ‘Be the change you want to see’… and with that, I rest my case.
On behalf of Dr. Asanga Wijayaratne and the ScottishOrbit Team, we wish you all a very happy and prosperous Sinhala & Tamil New Year!
