Today it was CSK vs Delhi at delhi… but it started off like the usual CSK match. Hussey and Murali Vijay used the power-play really well scoring at a brisk rate from the very start, though Murali got out halfway through it. However once Raina came in the show really got on the road. Jeevan Mendis was also in the squad but didnt bowl. Must have been due to an injury. And the rest of the innings went on the usual CSK fashion too. After the tenth over they stepped on the gas. There was just one casualty where Raina edged out a tip catch at the 12th over. But once Dhoni and Hussey got it on it was carnage. Morkel who had bowled some real good balls with the new ball was utterly decimated ending with an economy rate of 10.5. Though Dhoni got out eventually in the 19th over caught by Mendis the damage was done. Chennai had scored 169.
Another amazing thing about the game was that Simon Taufel commentated. In the first innings he partnered with Harsha Bhogle. Talking about commentary Sanjay Manjrekar spared no expense in bashing Mahela for the team’s performance. And unfortunately things didnt go Delhis way at all – both Warner and the one down batsman Juneja got out going for the big shots though they did play aggressive cricket… Mahela came in around the sixth over and there was this ball that seemed to be caught where Dhoni was very vocal in his appeal. But the umpire declined it. It was very close to call, but Sanjay Manjrekar didnt waste a moment to start imposing his ideas about how guilty Mahela was and all. Even Simon Taufel himself said it was too close to call. Unfortunately Mahela got out two balls later. And the rest of the batting crumbled too.
