Left arm orthodox bowler Inoka Ranaweera has been appointed captain of the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team for the 4 match ODI series against England that is set to begin on the 9th of November.
Sri Lanka, under new coach Hemantha Devapriya, has made quite a few changes to the team which took on the visiting Australians with experienced campaigners Oshadi Ranasinghe and Sripali Weerakkody making their way back into the squad after missing out against Australia. Hansima Karunaratne has also made it back into the national fold after a solid showing in the provincial T20 championship that was held last month.
Among those who have been left out are all-rounder Eshani Lokusooriya and Udeshika Prabhodhani while youngster Harshitha Madavi would count herself unlucky as she misses out despite some stellar performances at both the provincial and schools’ level.
Sri Lanka went down 4-0 to the Aussies in the ODIs and were thrashed in the sole T20I in September under the captaincy of Chamari Atapattu. Regular skipper Shashikala Siriwardene is said to be out due to injury once again.
