India sealed a dominant clean sweep over Sri Lanka with a Super Over victory in the third and final T20I match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
The match start was delayed due to rain interruptions yet again. The toss took place at 7:40 PM and the match started at 8.00 PM without losing any overs. Charith Asalanka decided to bowl first on a fresh, dry pitch after winning the toss.
The emerging player of the recently concluded Lanka Premier League, Chamindu Wickramsinghe made his international debut, replacing Dasun Shanaka. The visitors decided to test their bench strength, resting four players.

India were restricted to 4/30 inside the powerlay. Theekshana trapped Jaiswal after hitting him for two fours while Wickramasinghe who was given the new ball, off to a dream start with the wicket of Samson for another duck.
Fernando sent back the dangerous Suryakumar after Rinku was well caught by Pathirana in the first 6 overs. Soon after, Dube perished to Ramesh Mendis, leaving them at 48/5.
Gill and Parag tried to stabilize the innings as the duo stitched together in a 54-run stand for the sixth wicket. Hasaranga removed both of them in the 16th over. The opener top scored with 39 while the latter for an 18-ball 26.
Sundar stroked 25 off 18 balls at the latter part of their innings as India posted 137/9 in their 20 overs. Theekshana and Hasaranga shared five wickets between them while the debutant Wickramasinghe impressed with 1/17 in his 4 overs.
Nissanka and Mendis provided the hosts a steady start, adding 58 runs for the opening wicket. After the latter holed out to long-on for 26, the two Kusal’s also shared another half-century stand.
Mendis (43 off 41) was given out LBW off Bishnoi. When a run-a-ball 28 was needed, the hosts suffered another massive batting collapse. Sundar removed Hasaranga and Asalanka in consecutive deliveries.
Perera was dismissed for a well-made 46, coming off 34 deliveries. A flurry of wickets saw Sri Lanka not able to get over the line as they levelled the scores, dragging the game to a super over.
Mendis and Perera came out to bat in the super over. But, Perera and Nissanka, both were dismissed for golden ducks off Sundar as the islanders scored just 2 runs.
SKY finished things off for India with a first-ball boundary in the super over against Theekshana. Washington Sundar was named Player of the Match, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav was awarded the Player of the Series in India’s clean sweep win over Sri Lanka.
