India piled on the goals in a 12-0 win against Sri Lanka in the 2018 SAFF U15 Women’s Championship opener in Changlimithang Stadium Thimpu, Bhutan.

The opening match of the tournament, India v Sri Lanka was a group A encounter.
Sri Lanka got off to the worst possible start as India scored through Shilky Devi in the very first minute with the very first attack of the game.
India looked to have a formidable team having been the runners-up last year the team looked in sync with their passing and movement.
Lynda Kom then increased their lead with another simple goal and Avika Singh extended the lead 8 minutes after. The game looked long gone for the Sri Lankan girls in the first 20 minutes.
Sri Lankan goalkeeper Jeganathan Jethunsika from Mahajana College, Jaffna made a couple of good saves midway through the first half to stem the scoring.
Despite her heroics the Indian girls kept picking easy passes and kept on scoring. Sunita Munda scored a goal and Shilky Devi completed her hat-trick in the first half.
Half time – India 6 – 0 Sri Lanka
Second half was no different as India scored their 7th as soon as the half started through Kritina Devi.
The Lankan girls did manage to hold off Indian attacks for a sustained period. Not being able to clear the lines led to the 8th goal which Avika Singh took gleefully.
Sri Lankan goalkeeper then pulled off a good save from a long-range effort but the girls failed to clear the lines once again which led to penalty. Avika Singh took the spot kick only to hit the post and the rebound shot was saved brilliantly by Jeganathan Jethunsika.
Sri Lankan lasses did manage to string together a couple of passes and move towards the goal but the superior strength of the Indian girls managed to thwart any type of attack. Last 20 minutes of the game was all India as the Sri Lankan girls were unable to prevent from conceding goals.
For Sri Lanka captain Kavindi Jayakodi did put in a tireless performance in defense running along with Nimesha Sadaruwani, Tashani Jayakadu, Madushani Kumari, S. Thawapriya, Ragudas Kirushanthini, Amani Senadheera and Induni Nimsara played their hearts out despite the score line.
