India A continued their dominance over touring Sri Lanka A team for the second day in the 1st test match between the two sides played today at Belgaum Cricket Stadium in India. Sri Lanka A batsmen were stuttering at 83 runs for 4 wickets in reply to 622 runs made by India A in their first innings.
After being 376 runs for 1 wicket overnight, India A resumed their first innings for day two but lost overnight batsman Jayant Yadav for just 8 runs in the 3rd over of the day. Then the overnight batsman Easwaran was joined by Anmolpreet Singh at the middle and built a 82-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.

Easwaran was trapped in front by off spinner Akila Dananjaya in the 110th over before he stroked a magnificent knock of 233 runs off 321 balls at an impressive strike rate of 72.5. Easwaran’s knock included 22 fours and 3 sixes.
Number five batsman Ricky Bhui could not last long at the crease as he was bowled by left arm spinner Lakshan Sandakan for 1 run. Then Singh and Siddesh Lad met at the crease and built an aggressive 147-run partnership for the 5th wicket which came off 187 balls.
Right hander Lad who plays for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, made a quick 76 runs off 89 balls before being dismissed by right arm fast bowler Lahiru Kumara in the 142nd over. Lad’s knock came at a strike rate of 85.39 including 6 fours and 1 six.
After the fall of Lad’s wicket, the India A declared their innings at 622 runs for 5 wickets. The 21-year old Anmolpreet Singh who remained unbeaten at the crease made a classy knock of 116 runs off 165 balls. The Punjab batman Singh’s knock came at a strike rate of 70.30 and included 11 fours.

Left arm seamer Vishwa Fernando was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka A as he grabbed 2 scalps for 83 runs in 20.1 overs. In addition, Lahiru Kumara, Akila Dananjaya and Lakshan Sandakan picked up a wicket each.
In reply, left handed batsman Sangeeth Cooray and right handed batsman Pathum Nissanka opened the innings for Sri Lanka but the duo got off to a poor start as both of them were dismissed when the score was at 18. The promising left hander Bhanuka Rajapakse did not bother the scorers as he was dismissed in the very first ball he faced.
Number three batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama looked good for his short stay at the crease but fell to the right arm seamer Sandeep Warrier for 31 runs off 56 balls. At 50 for 4, the skipper Ashan Priyanjan and wicket keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella met at the crease and built an unbeaten 33-run partnership for the 4th wicket.
Sri Lanka A was 83 runs for 4 wickets in 28 overs at the close of play on day two. Unbeaten batsmen Priyanjan made 22 runs off 42 balls with 3 fours and a six while Dickwella made 22 runs off 25 balls with 4 fours. Right arm seamers Sandeep Warrier from Kerala and Shivam Dube from Mumbai impressed with the ball for India A team picking up 2 wickets each.
