Efficient bowling by both Kanrich Finance and MAS Silueta resulted in easy victories as they beat Mobitel and Pan Asia Banking Corporation (PABC) respectively in the Mercantile ‘B’ Division tournament.
Kanrich Finance vs Mobitel
Winning the toss and bowling 1st, Mobitel, spearheaded by left-arm spinner Lakshan Jayasinghe, faired adequately with the ball to restrict Kanrich to a below par 239 in 49.3 overs. Jayasinghe picked up 5 for 34 as Eranga Rathnayake provided good support with 3 for 29 in his quota of 10 overs.
Kanrich Opener Shehan Fernando top scored with an aggressive 51 off 56 balls, with 9 fours and middle order batsman Vishwa Deemantha scored 40 to take the batting side to 239.
Kanrich Finance made better use of the pitch than Mobitel did to dismiss the latter for just 185 to win by 54 runs. Lahiru Jayakody was the only batsman to challenge the Kanrich bowling with a hard fought 83 as all other batsmen succumbed to the Kanrich bowling.
Alankara Asanka was the pick of the bowlers for Kanrich picking up 4 for 35 while Kasun Vidura (2/16) and Prabath Jayasuriya (2/34) managed four wickets between them to dismantle the Mobitel batting and register a 54 run victory.

MAS Silueta vs PABC
Electing to bowl after winning the toss, PABC dished out a reasonable performance with the ball to restrict MAS to a modest 233 all out in 48.1 overs. Opener Pabasara Waduge top scored with 48 while Kaveen De Silva, coming in low down in the batting order made the tail wag, adding 45 to his personal tally and helping MAS to 233.
Wickets for PABC were evenly divided between five bowlers (G Bopage 2/27, Buddhika de Alwis 2/29, T Fernando 2/32, Ruwinda Thakshala 2/36 and Nimanda Madushanka 2/55) with them all picking up two wickets each.
MAS bowling, led by Kaushalya Gajasinghe and Rumesh Silva undid the PABC batting to a cheap 143 inside 35 overs. Kaushalya Gajasinghe was the pick of the bowlers, picking 4 for 12 in 6 overs which incidentally included 2 maiden overs as well. Rumesh Silva managed 3 vital wickets as he provided incredible support to Gajasinghe.
Viraj Deepal (32) along with Chamika Sasanka and Thusith Silva, managing identical scores of 27 were the only batsmen to trouble the scorers as the rest of the batting capitulated to the extra ordinary bowling by MAS.
