Sri Lanka ends Women’s T20 World Cup without a win

Sri Lanka suffered their fourth consecutive defeat at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 to end their campaign on a disappointing note.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu opted to bat first and managed to post 115/5 on the board, registering their highest score in the tournament.

Athapaththu finally managed to find some form with the bat, top scoring for Sri Lanka with 35 runs off 41 balls with 5 fours.

For New Zealand, Amelia Kerr and Leigh Kasperek stood out with the ball, scalping 2 wickets each.

New Zealand cruised to the target with ease as Georgia Plimmer stepped up to notch up her second T20I fifty. Her partnership with Amella Kerr for the second wicket sealed the deal for New Zealand.
