Vidushika Perera and Dewmi Vihanga shone with the ball before Vishmi Gunaratne anchored Sri Lanka’s chase in a 6-wicket win over Scotland U19s in their 2nd and final warm-up game at the Steyn City School Grounds in Midrand, South Africa.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first, but Scotland found the boundary with ease in the 1st couple of overs, racing to 25 before Ailsa Lister was dismissed by Pamoda Shaini.

Though Scotland continued to score at a decent rate of 5-6 runs an over, the turning point of the game came when Vihanga picked up a hattrick. The off-spinner’s accuracy paid great dividends as she picked up Katherine Fraser, Molly Paton and Emily Tucker in the 10th over. With those three wickets, the Scots slumped to 56/7 at the midway stage and never really recovered as they were bowled out for 87 in 16.3 overs.

Vihanga finished with 4/17 while left arm spinner Perera gave her ample support with 3/18 in her 4 overs.

Sri Lanka’s chase got off to a poor start, with openers Nethmi Senarathna and Sumudu Nisansala falling in the 1st 5 overs, but Sri Lanka’s most experienced player, Gunaratne stayed calm, putting together valuable partnerships with Vihanga and Manudi Nanayakkara to close out the win with nearly 2 overs to spare.

Sri Lanka will begin the tournament proper vs the USA on the 14th of January.
