ICBT were humiliated by the Loughborough MCCU,England by 8 wickets in their all important semi final of the 2015 Red Bull Cricket Campus World Finals in Dehradun today(23).
After being sent in, the boys from Sri Lanka were sitting pretty at 86/2 after the completion of 13 overs before they lost their way and managed only 43 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the latter part of their innings. Sadeera Samarawickrama was the star with the bat once again as he batted bulk of the overs making an elegant 52 while he got good support from Isuru Thilina who made 27. The right arm and left arm medium pace of Toby Lester and Robert McKinley proved too hot to handle for the Lankans as the duo shared seven wickets between them to restrict ICBT to 129/9.
In reply, the Englishmen were pushed on the back foot with an early blow by ICBT skipper Malshan Mendis but that was as good as it got for the Lankans as Karim and Kumar smashed the ICBT bowlers to all corners of the park with the latter making 31 while the former went on to remain unbeaten on 82 off just 58 balls ensuring an eight wicket victory with more than five overs to spare for the Englishmen.
