ICBT recorded their third consecutive win in the ongoing Red Bull Cricket Campus World Finals while also booking their semi-final place in the game worked off today (21) in Dehradun against HWUD from the United Arab Emirates.
ICBT skipper Malshan Mendis won the toss and elected to have a bat first on what looked like a good batting track and the openers did justice to his decision by putting on 126 for the first wicket in just 13 overs. Sadeera Samarawickrama made his third consecutive substantial score (57) while new comer and former Thomian Nipuna Gamage smashed his way to 65 off just 39 balls. The middle order did not manage to capitalize on the great start given to them but Adeesha Nanayakkara’s unbeaten 26 meant ICBT made an impressive 172/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Dushyant Asar picked up three wickets for UAE.
The boys from UAE had a strange approach to the run chase as they were more content on batting the allotted overs which meant they were able to muster only 98 runs for the loss of just five wickets. Malinga De Silva picked up two wickets while the other bowlers were very economical for ICBT which meant they recorded a comfortable 72 run win.
