Left arm spinner Rangana Herath required four stitches on his left index finger after attempting a return catch during Sri Lanka’s Pool ‘A’ World Cup fixture against England here in Wellington yesterday.
Herath was bowling the 49th over of the England innings when Jos Buttler hit one firmly back to the bowler and Herath missed the catch, but, more seriously, he hurt himself and left the field with a bleeding finger.
He will be assessed in Sydney before a decision is taken on his future in the tournament.
