The organizers of the Lanka Premier League are yet to receive the clearance from Health Authorities to host the tournament in the island which includes 30 foreign players, ThePapare.com learns.

With another 20 days to for the commencement of the tournament, Sri Lanka Cricket has not received the approval for the visa clearances for 140 foreigners including overseas players, production crew, and other stakeholders.
Due to the 14-day quarantine rule for all the visitors to the island, SLC is running out of time and since Sri Lanka national team is supposed to tour South Africa in December, postponing LPL by a week or two is not an option anymore.

One of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials said to The Sunday Times, “We are in the dark, the production crew should be here by November 3 to complete quarantine. That leaves them just three days to organize everything. The players should be here by November 7 to play. We are frustrated by how health authorities have responded to this.”

Other countries which have been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic have successfully brought cricket into their countries. England Cricket Board recently hosted West Indies, Ireland, Pakistan, and Australia in a successful summer while the biggest T20 League in the World, Indian Premier League is being held in UAE over the last two months. Pakistan welcomed Zimbabwe last week for a limited-over tour becoming the 2nd country to resume hosting international cricket while South Africa and New Zealand are also inline to host international cricket in November.
