Hameed Al Husseinie win KMCC Super 8 Championship

Hameed Al Husseinie came out winners of the Kalutara Muslim Central College Trophy of the century Super 8 Championships, held at Pakistan Ground, Wettumakada.

The tournament was organized by Kalutara Muslim Central College (KMCC) in celebration of their 100th year anniversary.  The participants at the tourney were:

Jeelan Central (Navodya) College – Panadura, Zahira College – Aluthgama, Al-Humaisara National School – Beruwala, Hameed Al Husseinie – Colombo, Holy Cross College – Kalutara, Zahira College – Gintota and Rifai Hajiyar Muslim maha Vidyalaya – Beruwala.

KMCC beat Jeelan Central 4-0 in their first knockout match, while Zahira Aluthgama battled out a 4-4 draw against Al-Humaisara before winning 3-0 on penalties.

Hameed Al Husseinie received a walkover win as Holy Cross had pulled out of the tournament. Zahira Gintota prevailed after a close 2-1 encounter against Rifal Hajiyar Maha Vidyalaya.

The first semi-final saw KMCC once again dominate their opponents as they beat Zahira Aluthgama 4-0. The second semi-final saw Hameed Al Husseinie destroy Zahira Gintota 7-0 to set up the big final of Kalutara Muslim Central College v Hameed Al Husseinie.

KMCC struck first as the first half of the Final ended with KMCC leading 1-0 thanks to a goal by Mohamed Usman. Hameed equalized in the second half however through Mohamed Aashik, before penalties were required to decide the Champion.  Hameed went onto beat KMCC 3-0 on penalties to be crowned Tournament Champions.

KMCC’s Mohamed Usman was named the Best Player of the Final and the Best Player of the Tournament while Hameed Al Husseinie’s Mohamed Nuskan won the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
