The Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) has appointed Guyanga Weerasekera as its Director Administration.
The management of SLTA has done well to keep its talent around to assume management duties. One such talent is Guyanga Weerasekara, a reputed coach to many current national players, who have now returned to make a difference and give back to the sport.
Weerasekera had an impressive junior tennis career where he was ranked 390 in the ITF Juniors, won 2 ITF Junior Championships and was member of the Davis Cup team in 2009. Weerasekera is also a travelling coaching to the national teams, most notably as the Fed Cup Coach/Captain in 2019. He holds a level 2 coaching qualification from the Lawn Tennis Association (UK) and is a member of the SLTA Coaches’ Education Commission.
Weerasekera brings in a wealth of corporate management experience to the SLTA, with 8 years’ experience at Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka, MAS Holdings, MHA Care Homes (UK), and most recently at Jinasena Pvt Ltd.
Weerasekera holds a MBA from Loughborough University (UK), BSc Business from University of London and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
SLTA President Iqbal Bin Isaac, Secretary Pradeep Goonasekera and the committee, expresses their best wishes to Weerasekera and kindly requests all stakeholders of Sri Lanka Tennis to extend their fullest support to Weerasekera and the SLTA to reach newer heights off and on the court.
Weerasekera assumed duties on the 25th of June.
