South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship

The South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship commenced yesterday (26th May) successfully at Kandy Municipal Council, Sri Lanka. As it marked the second day of the tournament today (27th May), it will promise us a spectacular battle between these young players in the upcoming two days as well in the individual events. Athletes from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Maldives, and Nepal participated in the team events yesterday and the finals of Under 15 Boys, Under 15 Girls and Under 19 Girls finals concluded today bringing much glory to India from their showcased dominance.

DAY 01 Results:

Under 19 Girls

  • Sri Lanka beat Maldives 3 to 2

Under 19 Boys team matches were conducted in league stage as India did not participate. Team Sri Lanka produced an amazing show of talent as they clinched the Only gold medal for Sri Lanka in the tournament at the end of two days. It was a remarkable milestone for Sri Lanka as they achieved this after 10 long years. Bangladesh and Pakistan won the silver and the bronze medals respectively in this category. So as a summary India is now leading the medal tally with 3 gold medals and Sri Lanka is at the second place with one gold medal. Also team Sri Lanka was able to secure silver medals in Under 15 boys, Under 15 girls and Under 19 girls categories. In the coming two days we will have the much awaited individual events of all 4 categories at Kandy Municipal Council. Be there to witness some actioned pack spin and smash!
