Gampola through alongside Wattala and Kegalle with thumping wins

Gampola U19’s defeated Nawalapitiya U19’s 4-2 in the 2nd leg of round 1 of the U19 Junior Inter League Championship held at Peradeniya University grounds and progressed with an aggregate score of 5-3.

After the one all draw in the first leg both teams wish was the win for this game to qualify next round.

In the first fifteen minutes of the game both teams showed some slow movements till Mohomed Shiraz of Nawalapitiya scored an own goal in 17th minute.

Just after that Crystal Palace and Kingswood midfielder Shamil Hilmy added the 2nd goal for Gampola with a well taken long range effort and increased the lead to two goals.

From that point onwards Gampola took the game into their hands but was not successful due to poor finishing as the first half ended as 2-0 in favor of Gampola.

At the start of the 2nd half Gampola sealed the match when Gampola skipper Mohomed Husama scored from a one on one situation and just after that Mohomed Bashith scored a powerful right footed volley to make it 4-0.

After that Nawalapitiya showed great determination and came back to the game in an attacking manner and Mohomed Faizar scored back to back goals with the help of Gampola goalkeeper’s bad positioning.

However there was no any chance to add to the two goals as the referee blew the triple whistle to end the game.
