Galle District Team crowned champions of Inter District Women’s U23 T20 Tournament 2023 as they defeated Gampaha District Team by 18 runs in the final worked off today (22nd June) at Surrey Grounds, Maggona.

Galle skipper Sulesha Sathsarani opted to bat first after winning the toss but were restricted to just 92 runs in 18.2 overs. Nethagi Isuranjalee was the top scorer for Galle as she made 30 runs off 43 balls with 2 fours.
Nipuni Nawodya, Hasini Wijesinghe and Kavishki Hashmika starred with the ball for Gampaha, picking up 2 wickets apiece.

In reply, Gampaha managed to post only 74/9 as Galle bowlers displayed a brilliant collective bowling effort. Shashini Gimhani stood out above the rest, scalping 3 wickets for 14 runs for the victorious Galle team.
