Galle Marvels, a leading franchise in the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) 5th season, conducted a press briefing to disclose their preparations for the tournament.

Speaking at the event, Galle Marvels Captain Niroshan Dickwella said that he will be up for the challenge of leading the Galle franchise and expect they can win the tournament this season.

“Getting along with both local and foreign players and coaching staff will be challenging for me. I want everyone in our setup get involved as a family and unit. During the tournament, there will ups and downs, but we have to appreciate everyone’s performance and move along as a team. We have a very good team this season and I’m sure everyone will support each other and hopefully win the tournament,” Dickwella said.

Graham Ford, the Head Coach of Galle Marvels, who was also present at the press briefing, explained his thoughts about the tournament with excitement.

“It’s a very exciting tournament and will be a challenging one as well. The tournament will be played in three venues and all those venues have differences. We will have to be smart and find ways to put together the best possible XIs to perform on those surfaces. We are trying to create a culture where everybody has got a voice, and everybody feels comfortable,”. Ford said.

Maheesh Theekshana, who has been assigned the Vice Captaincy of Galle Marvels, said he is pleased with the squad they got and expressed his gratitude for the Galle fans for keeping their trust on the franchise.

“We have prepared very well as a team for the tournament. Both local and foreign players have gelled together nicely as we conducted several practice sessions in last couple of days. We have a good mix of young and experienced players. There is a huge fanbase for the Galle Marvels. They have kept their trust in the Galle franchise for last four seasons even though we couldn’t win the championship yet. Therefore, we want to repay their trust and win the tournament for them,” Theekshana said.
