Four Sri Lankans have been named in the Team USA squad that will take part in the Over-50s Cricket World Cup which will be held in South Africa from 06th to 22nd March in 2023.
Sajith Fernando, Ajith Jayasinghe, Jeevaka Weerasinghe and Sanjeewa Weerasinghe are the four former Sri Lankan cricketers included in the USA squad who will be playing for the first time in O50s Cricket World Cup.
The tournament organized for the cricketers who are aged over 50 will be played next year with the participation of 14 teams; Sri Lanka, Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan, Wales, Namibia, Zimbabwe, USA, UAE and Canada.
The next year’s tournament will be held for the 3rd time and Australia the defending champions managed to clinch the title on two previous occasions in 2018 and 2020.
