St. Joseph’s College felicitate their sponsors ahead of schools rugby season

St. Joseph’s College Maradana, who is a one of the powerhouses in Sri Lanka Schools Rugby had organised a press conference and a felicitation ceremony yesterday (9th of April 2025) to unveil their sponsors for the Inter-schools rugby season 2025, at Elevate by Jetwing in Colombo 07.

Main Sponsor of the St. Joseph’s College rugby team is Acorn Group, which started as a general travelling company and transformed into a conglomerate with operations in aviation, outbound travel, and destination management. Acorn Group had committed and given remarkable support to Joes Rugby in the last season as well and importantly committed to replicate the effort.

Allianz Insurance will be extending their helping hand as the Platinum Sponsor for the ruggerites from the Darley Road. The company has long been a pillar of support for St Joseph’s rugby endeavors. Therefore Allianz Insurance is generously continuing the support for yet another year by keeping the intimate relationship with this prestigious educational institution.

The Bronze Sponsor of the college is Prima Kottu Me. Under the helping hand and commitment of Prima Group, various Sri Lankan sports have been able to reach the pinnacle of success. Here the company has come forward to provide their support to St. Joseph’s college this season as they stamp their authority in the Schools’ Rugby arena.

After felicitating the esteemed sponsors, another event followed to unveil the player’s jersey for the year 2025. First jersey was presented to the current Joes captain Janith Marasinghe who will be wearing the No. 8 jersey. It followed by presenting the jersey to the Vice Captain Beeshama Jayasekera and to other players.

Finally, Mr. Shamal Rodrigo, the Chairman of Rugby Advisory Committee expressed his gratitude to the esteemed sponsors who have rallied behind the institution’s rich sporting legacy.
