Maharoof, represented Sri Lanka in 22 Tests, 109 ODIs and 8 T20Is for a span of 13 years. He will function in a dual role as a Selector and Manager in U19 level.

Sri Lanka U19s will host Pakistan U19s in three youth ODIs and two youth Tests in Galle and Hambanthota from 2nd to 20th May.
The first four-day match will be in Galle, followed by the second game in Hambanthota. The first two 50-over games will be played in Hambanthota with both teams set to return to Galle for the final youth ODI.
