Chamari Athapaththu got the Falcons off to a blazing start against Barmy Army with 42 off 31, to help her team to their 2nd consecutive win at the FairBreak Invitational in Dubai.
Athapaththu also managed her first FairBreak wicket, when she dismissed Barmy Army’s opening batter Kavisha Egodage for 24.
Barmy Army were put into bat by stand-in skipper Dannielle Wyatt and managed to post 152/3 thanks to a characteristically dominant 80 off 59 for Deandra Dottin.
Falcons got off to a brisk start with Wyatt and Athapaththu opening the innings – the former coming into the side to replace skipper Suzie Bates. The pair put on 67 for the 1st wicket before an unfortunate run-out at the non-striker’s end saw Athapaththu dismissed for 42.
