All roads will lead to CR & FC Grounds on the 27th and 28th of September as the 52nd Mercantile Rugby Sevens Tournament 2024 will take place in the span of two days with 22 teams in the fray for silverware.
In the coveted Cup segment, John Keells Holdings will feature two teams along with CDB, Brandix, Sampath Bank and Pearl Beach. Last year’s winners – 3DH International will not compete this year.

The top placed teams from Cup segment will battle it out in the Cup Semi-Finals, followed by Cup Finals, whilst the losers of Cup Semi-Finals will play in the Plate Final. The bottom ranked teams from Cup segment will play in the Bowl Finals.

In the Shield segment, 16 teams have been divided into four groups. On Day 1, the Shield matches will only have a 5-minute half. However, the Shield knockouts will be played as a regular sevens fixture – 7 minutes per half.

In the Women’s category, there will be a couple of Tag Rugby matches to promote Women’s Rugby in the Corporate segment.

Organized by the Mercantile Rugby Football Association, Mastercard are the main sponsors of the event.
Staggering 30 matches are lined up for Day 1, followed by 14 knockout matches on Day 2. Matches will begin at 8:30am on Day 1, whilst the games on Day 2 will begin at 9:30am.
