Mahinda College took on Maliyadeva College today in an inter school cricket match which took place at the Mahinda grounds.
Maliyadewa College who won the toss had no hesitation inviting the opponents to bat and proved a good decision as Mahinda College were all out for 137 runs in 53.5 overs. Dulash Udayanga notched up a half century adding 51 runs and Malith Mahela supported him with 38 runs. Chandima Bandara and Kusal De Silva representing Maliyadewa College did the damage taking 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
Their glee was short lived and Mahinda returned the favour by bundling Maliyadeva out for 128 runs in 39 overs The Mahinda College bowlers took 8 wickets for the last 30 runs. It was some staunch batting by Sarindu Dassanayake (37), Minod Bhanuka(24) and Charith Rathnayake (22) that gave the visitors some respectability. Chamith Kalhara rolled over the opposition taking 4 wickets while his partners in crime Chalana De Silva and Malith Mahela took 3 wickets each.
