ESoft Metro Campus took on the Wadduwa Central team in the 1st of 3 exhibition matches of the Red Bull Campus Cricket Women’s Championships in Sri Lanka.
ESoft won the toss and invited Wadduwa Central to have bat first at the Thurstan College Grounds, earlier today (27). Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan for the ladies from Wadduwa Central, as they were bowled out for just 58 in 17.5 overs. None of the batters were able to get to double figure, with the highest score actually coming from extras (10).
For ESoft, Janadi Anali was the standout with the ball, registering figures of 3/11 in her 4 overs.
Though ESoft were favourites to overhaul the target, the target of 59 turned out to be quite challenging. They slumped to 19/6 and it looked like an upset was on the cards, before an 18-run partnership between Rashmi Nethranjali (5) and Vihari Sewwandi (14) took them closer to the target.
Malsha Madushani added 14 runs in quick time to give ESoft the win.
