The 71st Nationals Badminton Championships is scheduled to be held from December 4-10 and entries are now open.
Organized by Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), the championship promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent while a prize pool of Rupees two million will be up for grabs.
The week-long tournament will feature a compelling schedule of events at the Sri Lanka Badminton Headquarters and MBA Badminton Courts.

The Main Draw Seeding will be determined based on Sri Lanka Badminton Ranking as of Tuesday, November 28, 2023. The Draw will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 29, at No 2, Cambridge Terrace, Colombo-07.
The grand opening ceremony will take place on Monday, December 4, and will be followed by the Preliminary Rounds. Subsequent days, from December 5 to 7, will continue with intense Preliminary Rounds, leading up to the climax on December 8 with the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals. The excitement continues on Saturday, December 9, with the highly anticipated Semi-finals and additional Quarterfinal matches. The grand finale is set for Sunday, December 10, where all the Finals will be held, concluding with the Closing Ceremony to mark the culmination of this prestigious badminton championship.
The Championships will feature a wide range of events from Under 11 to 19 in the Junior Category and Over 30 to Over 70 in the Senior Category.
However, the Open events category comprising Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles will take centre stage at this Grand Annual Event. All details of the Tournament are available in the prospectus published in the SLB website.
