The 7-week long Cricket festival, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup saw a dramatic end at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s on Sunday (14th July) as the home team emerged as champions of the World for the first time in history.
With both the finalists, England and New Zealand eyeing their first-ever World Cup win the final hurdle was nothing short of a thrilling heart-stopping contest. With neither of the teams losing, the winner was left to be decided on the number of boundaries scored.
>>ICC Cricket World Cup 2019<<
Fair or not fair, it was the rule. New Zealand after doing nothing wrong, had to be satisfied with the 2nd place. England having done nothing at all more than their opponents except for few more extra boundaries, edged past them to clinch the World Cup.
It may not sound wrong, it may make you feel for New Zealand, but it doesn’t matter now. The deal is done and dusted. Let’s take a peek into what the celebrities had to say:
Don’t understand how the game of such proportions, the #CWC19Final, is finally decided on who scored the most boundaries. A ridiculous rule @ICC. Should have been a tie. I want to congratulate both @BLACKCAPS & @englandcricket on playing out a nail biting Final. Both winners imo.

Congratulations to England on winning the Cricket World Cup. New Zealand were outstanding and never gave up, that deflection over-throw of Stokes being a huge turning point, tragic for @BLACKCAPS , so near yet so far but they must be very proud. #CWCFinal19

Whatever is said and done now, England will not give away their trophy, will they? It was their day. Luck favoured them throughout. It’s luck which has the final call at most the times in life as well, isn’t it? So why not in sport?
Read – England win Cricket World Cup after Super Over drama
Regardless of the end result controversy, the two teams put in a grand effort to produce, one of the greatest or the greatest ODI of all time. It was in fact the first ever ODI to have a super over after being tied. To top it all, the two teams couldn’t be separated even after the super over.
A game that ebbed and flowed from the 1st ball to the 612th!
Feel for New Zealand ?? who did everything that England ??????? did and still fell short.
