Eight slicers off to UK for the 7th World Carrom Championship

Four men and four women carrom players left for the United Kingdom on Saturday (5) to participate in the 7th World Carrom Championship.

This 7th World Carrom Championship  will be scheduled to be held from today (November 7th) to 11th in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

This world Carrom event held once in four years was hosted in 2012 by Sri Lanka ending up in runner up behind India. Nishantha Fernando was World champion in that event.

Sri Lanka Men’s team will be led by Chamil Cooray. Chamil Cooray was 12 time national champion and Swiss League World Champion. Nishantha Fernando, Mohommed Shaheed and Mohommed Sheriffdeen were other members of the Sri Lanka Men’s team.

National champion Joseph Rositha will be led by Sri Lanka Women’s team which comprises Chalani Lakmali, Yashika Rahubadda and Arosha Wickramasinghe.

Men’s Team: Chamil Cooray (Captain), Nishantha Fernando, Mohommed Shaheed, Mohommed Sheriffdeen

Women’s Team: Joseph Roshita (Captain), Chalani Lakmali, Yashika Rahubadda, Arosha Wickremasinghe

Officials: Susantha Fernando (Vice President, Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka) and Daya Vidanagama (Tournament Secretary of  Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka)
