Devapathiraja College Rathgama will meet Madampa MMV in the 2nd “Battle of Brothers” annual Cricket encounter for Sir Earnest De Silva Memorial Challenge Trophy at the Madampagama School ground on the 6th & 7th of April.
Devapathiraja Rathgama won the inaugural encounter last year. They will be led by Pathum Madhusanka with Thisara Dilshan assisting to him as deputy. Madampa MMV will be led by Udesh Chathuranga Mendis with Kavindu Sureshana as deputy.
Devapathiraja College played in division two in the Singer U19 schools cricket season and advanced to the semifinal in the two-day tournament and quarter-final stage of the limited overs tournament. They played 14 matches, winning 4 and losing 2 with the remaining games ending as draws.
Madampe MMV featured in division three in the school season and played only seven matches winning one and losing 6 matches.
Left-handed batsman and last year’s captain for Devapthiraja, Raveen Yasas has scored more than 1200 runs including a double century and 2 centuries in the schools’ season. Skipper Pathum Madhusanka has scored over 700 runs along with 69 wickets and is the leading wicket-taker in the side. Sudeera Weerarathne has scored over 600 runs and Pawan Sandesh has made over 450 runs as well, strengthening the batting order.
There isn’t much to say about the Madampe boys with Kavindu De Zoysa leading the run charts with more than 200 runs while Malsha Tharupathi has 28 wickets and scored over 150 runs.
