The Sri Lanka Cricket Premier League tier ‘A’ Tournament 2017/18 which was scheduled to kick off on Friday, the 1st of December, has been postponed by a week to the 8th of December due to inclement weather conditions in the island during the past few days.
The Tournament Committee Chairman Bandula Dissanayake confirmed to ThePapare.com that the SLC didn’t have much of an option but to postpone Sri Lanka’s premier tournament after heavy rain fall around the island in the build up to the tournament.
The Tier ‘A’ competition which consists of 14 clubs have been divided into two groups with each team scheduled to play six games.
The top four teams from each group will then qualify for the Super Eight Tournament which will most likely be conducted as four-day games while the lowest ranked six teams in the group stage will play for the Plate Championship with the bottom-ranked team set to face relegation.
