Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal’s participation for the second Test against England remains doubtful. He strained his groin muscle during the first Test match in Galle, which England won by 211 runs.

Chandimal left the field midway during the second session on day one. Suranga Lakmal took over the captaincy duties in the absence of Chandimal, who to the relief of the home team returned to the field after the tea interval. However, he again walked off towards the end of the final session.

“Chandimal’s injury is a grade one tear. It will take 10 to 14 days, so it will be touch and go for the second Test match. The danger for us is that, if he is not 100 percent fit, he may not play. We have to look at a replacement or stand by player for him.” Sri Lanka Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha said.

He batted in both innings on day two and four, scoring 33 and 1 respectively but looked in total discomfort during his movements.
